3My 1st proposal. Trying to get Lopez to the Cubs in a win/win/win scenario where the Twins lose salary and get a 1b, RH outfielder and a Pitcher to replace him. Assad could be swapped for Wicks. The Rays get 2 of the Cubs best prospects for Yandy Diaz and their backup C along with taking on Vasquez from the Twins who throw in a little cash. Cubs prospect huggers will hate this but that's the price of Pitching.
Welcome to the community Nightengale. Happy to have you. For this trade, I don’t think it works for the Rays. The Rays aren’t interested in taking on bad contracts or salary this year. Their stadium situation is causing a huge cash flow problem. So Vasquez doesn’t work for them, even with the cash. Also, if they trade Rort (and I don’t think they will), it will be because they want to promote Driscoll to the active roster. Rort and Driscoll are both lefties, while Vasquez is a righty. I’m also not a fan of Rojas and would want someone else from the Cubs or Twins. Rojas’ bat looks very overrated and he doesn’t have the elite fielding the Rays want at SS.
Welcome to the trade boards!
