3@johnblitzer Never really understood why Sosa had as much value as he did. Any insight after this swap?
It's pretty simple. He put up 1.8 fWAR in 2021, with a nice glove and a slightly above-average bat (104 WRC+). He's under control through 2026. Yes, he's having a down year in 2022, but track record counts. That said, we've seen plenty of light-hitting infielders go for less than they should, which means we need to adjust down for that more in the model going forward.
Got it. I know he was also a DFA candidate with the roster crunch. It just felt like it was a little too much value for it to be that alone. Thanks!
