I feel this is a pretty good offer for Rodriguez. Pirates get their 2B they need. A very good up and coming OF prospect. A very good SP prospect that was promoted to AAA this year after being drafted in 2020. Finally they get Curry who can slide into their rotation. He struggled upon his initial ML exposure, but sailed through the minors and has good stuff.

Pirates have a full 40 man roster plus only have two catchers on it… I don’t think they really want to trade Rodriguez. I am not against the idea, I just don’t think the Pirates want to…

The Pirates roster is garbage Coach and they have plenty of fodder to cut in order to add these guys. I read somewhere that the Pirates were basically 4 deep at C and needed to trade one so…….

Read that the Pirates are looking for infielders and in Freeman they get a good one. If the Pirates want to eventually contend they need to make volume trades like this. Look for teams with very good minor league systems and trade redundant assets. They drafted Henry Davis so I would think they could pickup a haul for someone like Rodrigues (or trade Davis). When you have lots of holes this is the only way you shore those up. Maybe they can get a better deal somewhere else, but this is a good offer.
