Rays aren’t sacrificing future wins for 2021, so trading Walls to get salary relief isn’t likely. Plus, the Rays don’t have a better CF than KK on the roster and they don’t really need another SP. So giving up Walls to move KK doesn’t make any sense for the Rays.

More on KK – The guy has had a number of defensive gems this year, and looks every bit the part of the best defensive CF in the league. His .3 fWAR is tracking well toward him putting up 1.5-2.5 fWAR for the year, which makes his $13 (prorated) salary perfectly reasonable. BTV (and perhaps the rest of MLB) may not love KK, but the Rays certainly do. He’s unlikely to be traded, and he certainly won’t be traded with an $11 million negative trade value.
