4Sox are getting absolutely shafted here. Trading their best hitter for a couple bums. Lol.
Love it for all parties. I really like the Marlins getting Arozarena, and I really like the Rays doing a couple buy lows.
Rays trade Aroz for 2 ML players with equal control, shoring up their rotation and DH positions. Rogers would even allow the Rays to trade Springs, who only has 2 years of control remaining, or top prospect Bradley. White Six trade oft injured Jimenez for young outfielder Sanchez, who has looked promising at times, and a good 2B prospect in Lewis. White Sox also clear salary, which they can use to further improve their team. Miami moves a surplus pitcher and a young outfielder for a proven vet with 4 years of control who is only due about $4 MM in 2023.
Best hitter, but also can’t stay healthy and earns decent coin. As good as he is at the plate, he’s never once had a 2 fWAR season (which amazes me). Sanchez doesn’t have his bat obviously but he’s a lot better in the field, doesn’t have injury concerns, has the potential to hit around 110-120 wRC+, and is still prearb making league minimum. Lewis is a good prospect too. Jimenez is a stud of course, and I understand your concern. What would you want the White Sox to get for Jimenez if not an outfield replacement and 2B prospect? White Sox have said the only position player not available in trade is Vaughn, so a trade could happen with the right package.
