5I expect the Rays to continue their rebuild this Winter by trading Y.Diaz and a few others. Reds need a 1B, so this trade has the Rays trading Y.Diaz to the Reds in return for an upper minors SS (SS being the biggest hole on the team) and a decent pitching prospect. Reds have plenty of middle infield talent to absorb the loss of Arroyo, so this trade doesn't hurt them all that much.
The Reds do not need a first baseman. They have Ty France playing there now. Spencer Steer is a highly capable 1b. Christian Encarnacion-Strand is on the IL. Jeimer Candelario is also on the IL is also capable at 1b. The Reds are not going to deal a SS and LHP for Diaz. This proposal is an overreach.
What kind of production are you hoping to get from that motley crew? While I readily admit Yandy is getting up there in years (he's 33), his production remains pretty good. He has hit in the mid 130s wRC+ level since May 1st. The entire Rays team started the year in a funk, hitting like crap in March/April, but they largely righted the ship after May 1st. In Yandy's case, a 135ish wRC+ blows away the Cincy field by a country mile. Even his 119 wRC+ for the entire year realistically bests every option Cincy has at the position. Anyway, you may be right that I'm asking for too much for Yandy, but since he compares pretty favorably to Alonso production-wise (but at 1/2 the cost), I don't think it's unreasonable.
