2This trade comes to us courtesy of @HotStoveIntel in Twitter. Personally, I would not do this trade -- in my opinion, my Pirates should categorically not consider trading Skenes for the remaining five years of team control. Plus, it's a known fact that the Pirates can't develop hitting prospects AT ALL (Termarr Johnson, Henry Davis, even Bryan Reynolds is having a down year!). To me, there's no point in trading your fan favorite ace starting pitcher in exchange for adding farmhand hitters to your minor league system if you're just going to fail to develop them into average or above average Major League starters.
That's fair, but I suppose the counterargument would be: if you can't develop your own hitters, why not buy young hitters another team has already developed (to an extent)?
