Rays outfield is about to get really crowded with folks returning from IL. Palacios is a really good 4th outfielder, hitting over 100 wRC+ last year against both handed pitchers and providing good defense at all outfield positions and 2B. He makes the Pirates better for the remainder of the 2020s. The cost is a very good reliever, but one who may have worn out his welcome in Pittsburg and who definitely isn't needed in a going-nowhere season. Pirates have a good Farm, so they opt for Major League talent with this trade, but the Rays could also pay Santana's cost with prospects. Rays need to improve their Pen.
