4The timing is horrid as Severino just got hammered by the Yankees (again). It's $2 MM cash this year, another $10 MM in 2026. Randall is a college-trained arm pitching well in Low-A.
Tigers pitching coaches may be able to get Severino back on track. 2.5 years left at 22mil aav, the Tigers can pay and yes the A's would eat some, but the Tigers may target an elite pitcher with an expiring contract like Seth Lugo. Note the Tigers are getting Reese Olson back so they have about 6-7 guys they are comfortable starting in the regular season.
That all makes sense to me. I'll be pitching this same deal to a few different teams, just to see who'd be eager to bite.
fyi Lugo has a player option for 2026 which, given his very weak advanced metrics, suggest he would exercise it.
