8An odd trade because it involves a prospect in A ball being traded for 2 major leaguers and a AAA prospect, but hear me out. Ginn is a good reliever and just owned the Rays over nearly 4 innings tonight. Rays need to improve the Pen. Andujar hits lefties well, which the Rays need help with. Susac is having a great year and the Rays perennially need help at catcher. None of these guys are huge additions individually, but collectively they make a big difference both now and in the future. Harrison might develop into something special but he’s far off and frankly his results have left me wanting more.
Needs more for the A's. You've got the Ray's asking for 2 big league players and a Catcher you could call up the day he arrives in the organization... and all you're offering is 1 Low-A prospect? There needs to be a couple lotto tickets included.
While true, none of the big leaguers going to the Rays are stars and Harrison could be a huge get for the A’s. Ginn has negative fWAR (at least he did before last night’s stellar outing) and Andujar has a whopping 0.1 fWAR. Adding a dollar scratcher is fine I guess. Have anyone in mind?
Before I name names I feel obliged to do the following... Andujar is out with an oblique injury, return time unknown. And even when healthy the Power had waned. His best shots ended at the warning track. On to names... an arm in the Owen Wild/Alex Cook range.
Understood on Andujar. He's mostly a throw in to possibly improve the Rays' LHP issues. Between Owen Wild and Alex Cook, I'd prefer to trade Owen Wild. Alex Cook has missed almost the whole year and I want to see him pitch in the upper minors to see what he's got before I move him.
Fair 'nuff.
By the way - Your A’s are a fun, exciting team to watch. They need pitching, but I’d be excited for a lot of the position players. Guys like Wilson and Clarke are fun to watch.
"Fun" yeah, that's one of the descriptors I've used. Not the most frequent choice...
