This is the Boston Red Sox. It's an honor to take on the $300mn when it's going to a player of Tatis's caliber, and at his AAV, its a bargain relative to the deals being handed out currently. To get a guy like that, you have to overpay, and with the current roster, these are players that they have the luxury of making expendable.
If anything, I see AJ Preller laughing and then farting into the phone if this were Breslow's offer.
