3The A's have gone to Rooker and told him, unequivocally, that he's not getting traded before the deadline. So what would it take to break that promise? Well, Boston would have to meet the A's historical expectations when making major trades. (Hopefully without the "everyone ends up horrible" component.) The A's love shopping in the upper minors aisle when building a return package; Tolle and Early are pitching in AA and Garcia is in AAA. They want someone with a high ceiling (Tolle) and they like to add some floor (Early). They tend to want a replacement of the vet they trade and Garcia's RHH Power could eventually do that, with the added benefit of his outfield ability allowing the team to move Soderstrom out of LF and into the DH role.
ππΌββοΈ Rooker is not a deadline fit for the Red Sox, the off season seems likelier. Iβm not against moving any of the three but doubt the Boston Front Office would be willing to consider Tolle or Garcia, especially for an imperfect fit. π
Fair take.
