7A's get rotation and bullpen help. Guards get a young, potential upgrade on the IF, a young catching prospect and a draft pick. Pirates get a quality young 3B prospect, who could debut later in the year and would balance out a lefty-heavy roster.
Down vote for the A’s. They’re shopping for a higher ceiling arm than Logan Allen and if they can’t add that I expect them to go with internal options for the 5th spot while they wait for Jump or Arnold to take over.
Also isn't someone that can play 2B/3B a need for the roster hence why you went and got McNeil to add a veteran to the INF... Tell me if I am wrong but they have what 23 pitchers to 16 or so position players... Trading Muncy for Allen, while fixing the rotation, sure but why would you guys cut Waldichuk to get Neil if you needed to get another SP... I feel like you are going to run with the current group with NRIs until the trade deadline, then look to sneak into the playoffs or move the rentals and give the young guys in the system more ABs... I don't see moving Muncy for Allen enough of a game changer for the A's to merit it...
They've been light on position players since before the start of last year, they're at 17 now but I'm sure they're dangling Thomas in trade talks. And I disagree that Allen fixes the A's rotation. They have back-end arms and they're trying to land someone that could (ideally) push Severino down the rotation order. That's not Allen's M.O.
Allen is just a very durable 5 and Colby Thomas would be a target for Cleveland, but they don't have great depth in their rotation right now and Allen or Nikahzy would be the only ones they would think of trading if they did... Neither of them are the arms the A's would want, but I gotta do an offer anyways, cause why not...
Muncy isn't a good enough fielder to merit this move... Cleveland does not want to block 2B cause of the fact they have a group of prospects including their number one prospect that can play there and 3B is taken... Muncy isn't good enough at SS to merit playing there over Rocchio or Arias... Muncy OBP% and SO rate just doesn't fit what Cleveland needs... Like I am not against getting Muncy for Cleveland but it for sure would not be at the expense of Allen...
Muncy was showing improvement at 3B before getting hurt; learning on the job in the Show is a tough ask. I think he's Plan A to start at 3B but... his name is most definitely in pencil.
