1I don't really like this trade from the Dodgers' perspective. I'm down on Verlander. His K and BB rates are very average - and that's the makings of an average pitcher. Optimistically, I'm giving him 4 WAR through 2024. At 8 million per WAR that's $32 million in value. Adding in some extra value for the 2023 playoffs, maybe he's worth $40 million total. He's due almost $60 - probably more when you figure in the vesting option - that's where the cash to LA comes in. Mets fans want young pitchers, so, here you go. Dodgers get Gott back to add a bit more value. I'd live with this trade, but I wouldn't love it. Bring me a Tiger pitcher!
