6I don't see McCormick as the guy Cleveland needs back for Bieber, but I can understand this deal if Cleveland says that's who they want...
McCormack does not move the needle for the Guardians.
That’s why there is also 2 prospects attached. Lee is a catcher who will not be able to break through with the Astros because the Astros have a young catcher in Y. Diaz. Leon is a SS prospect that is currently raking in the minors at the moment.
That's where the problem is... Cleveland, on paper, has to get a big league bat they need for Bieber, that's way more important than getting prospects back in the Bieber deal. McCormick isn't the bat Cleveland needs so he isn't the return Cleveland wants even with the prospects. They have the chance to win the division so they will keep Bieber unless someone matches what they want. I don't see McCormick being the guy they really want...
That makes sense… I didn’t realize they were still in the race for the division. Geez… that division is terrible this year.
They are still in the race and have been playing better overall of late. Honestly if they find a legit 2 hole hitter, they will make the playoffs... With McKenzie going down though, its going to be harder to trade Bieber. Also, Cleveland's FO is notorious for getting their price or walking away. This season, they will be 100% firm on Biebers price so don't be surprised if he stays in Cleveland past the trade deadline...
