Tyler Freeman is stuck behind Giminez, Ramirez, and Rosario in the infield. And they've got Gabriel Arias right behind Freeman and a year younger. Petey Halpin is a pure CF prospect who has been improving his walk rates and strikeout rates. It's also a chance to replenish their prospects who have been traded or graduated. While he's a top 20 prospect with the Guardians he'd become the #10-15 prospect for the Braves. In exchange, they get to fix Ian Anderson, who has 4 years of control left (AND 2 options). Barring injury, I don't see him cracking the Guardians top 5, but if they can bring him back to 2020 Ian Anderson, He could make Civale or Plesac quite tradable.

Tyler Freeman nor Petey Halpin do anything to help the Atlanta Braves in 2023. Ian Anderson might not either. However, if I'm going to bet that one of them will, I'm picking Anderson and mostly just because he's a starting pitcher and I like Orlando Arcia over Tyler Freeman coming off the bench. I don't know what to make of Anderson's 2022. Again, if I'm betting on a biggest improvement in 2023 and it's between Freeman and Anderson I'm picking Anderson again. I'm a Braves fan and I admit to being biased here. It's just too much of a stretch to want these two guys from the Guardians. Freeman's only been in 24 games in the Majors and Halpin's a prospect. The bottom line is that Braves are looking to win now and unless a trade adds there then I doubt there's any practical sense to it. I understand that the Guards might want to move either Civale or Plesac because of the guys knocking on the door. I don't think acquiring Anderson resolves that. For the most part, adding him amounts to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
