Red Sox get infield help now and get their young starter of the future. He's injured now, so it's a risk for both parties, but with one of the worst farm systems in baseball, the Tigers take the risk to re-stock in a sense. Skubal could be a #2, and he is young. With Sale, Paxton, and Houck (with this trade) gone soon, this is a great long term piece to buy. Tigers, as I said, re-stock. Getting the top 2 picks last year from the Sox boosts their top 10. Houck slides into the rotation this year, or becomes a relief guy to build around, a la Andrew Miller in the past. Dalbec and Duran are buy low guys the Tigers can take a risk on, as they don't really have the major league pieces to compete, and this gives them low risk high reward if 2 former top 100 prospects can re-capture it in every day roles. They need playing time, they can get it here. This also opens a trade option to send Badoo or Meadows to a lefty outfielding needing team. Yankees and Rangers come to mind. Maybe send a pitcher to the Yankees as well to get a better prospect back.

There is no situation where the Tigers would be interested in either Dalbac or Duran or Houck, period. I don't know why I continually see them in trade scenarios with the Tigers. And Skubal isn't going to be traded to "stock" the farm either. If a trade eventually happens, it will most likely be for a position player that is very close in value to what he is worth, which right now would be selling low on him so he isn't going anywhere for some time. If Schoop rebounds, he will probably be traded mid season, same with E Rod as he has an opt out and will most likely opt out if he pitches like he is capable of and the Tigers have pitching depth already. There is no reason to trade either right now unless an injury occurs in ST that would make someone overpay to acquire either one. As far as their farm system, they don't have any MLB near ready prospects but the system is not as bad as some evaluators seem to think and they could easily have 5 or 6 prospects in the top 100 this time next year as none will be making the jump to MLB until maybe a September call up for Dingler or Perez at 2nd.
