I like this trade I think it makes sense for the Cardinals because with the current rotation they don't have many open spots for this season, but Lopez clearly helps the team compete now while Meyer (who did have TJS) wasn't going to help the Marlins this year but could be an invaluable pick up for next year. The extra draft pick for the Cards would be huge and I like Eder as a near term lefty contributor and Mesa Jr. as a potential 4th OF come 2024-25. The Marlins get a very sold CF in Carlson. He did have a down 2022 but still has really high potential, and is young and under control. Burleson gives them a good lefty bat to pair at 1B with Cooper who becomes a free agent after this year (so they also get some future proofing in the deal). Burly can also play in the OF on occasion. Finally Hjerpe acts as the typical give a pitcher, get one back and by all means he looks like he should shake out to be a valuable lefty arm that slots right into the middle of their rotation in a couple years.
