1Tinkered with this idea for a bit and it makes sense to me. In this trade the Cardinals, Pirates, and Red Sox all get a good return for what they give up that helps towards their goals. Cards get a TOR arm on a good contract that will help with the desperate pitching situation after this season and of course add a massive LH bat in Devers to serve as the teams primary DH (a 1 year rental for sure but he would push the team towards World Series aspirations) Murphy also fits the cardinals pitcher mold with Bleis being a very intriguing lefty OF prospect. Pirates stock up for 2024 with two good pitching acquisitions and Rafaela likely making his debut to be the new CF in Reynolds stead. (Albeit the 2023 OF isn't awe inspiring Duran could be a sneaky good pick up and potential trade chip) Burleson also gives them a power lefty who can cover 1B and a little OF if necessary. Finally the Sox get a massive return for 1 year of Devers (who looks increasingly likely to not sign an extension) by getting two all-star potential OFs with years of control in Reynolds and Carlson, with Reynolds sliding to a corner spot and D.C. to man center where he will likely be better defensively over Reynolds. DeJong keeps Story at 2B and is a stop gap for Mayer. The green monster could also bolster DeJongs offense considering he does most of his damage to the left side of the field. (The Sox's starting rotation does admittedly take a pretty big hit but Hudson and Oviedo should be serviceable enough to at least keep the team close to average)
