Alternative to my other trade. The Cards are win now mode. They may only have a couple more seasons of Arenado being productive. Goldy only has another year left, and even if they trade him Willson Contreras and Alec Burleson are waiting. Likewise, the outfield is packed full of options and I think we all know why O'Neill is the most likely candidate to be traded. What the Cardinals desperately need is pitching. White Sox probably ask for Hink in addition to Winn, but Cease's dropoff this season undercuts their bargaining position. The Cards need to bulk up their rotation, as currently, they have Matz, Mikolos, and Libertore slotted as the bulk of the rotation. Cards have a history of not paying huge money for free agents, so this would free them up to spend on a mid-level pitcher (return of Jordan Montogmery perhaps?). White Sox shore up their entire infield, get a possible deadline piece in O'Neill, a solid rotation piece to go with Nastrani and Eder, and a little more pitching depth.
