4Cleveland isn't trading Williams period... Cleveland has Williams, Bibee and Allen as the main rotation for many years to come...
You couldn't get Williams with 3 Woods. What is wrong with these evaluators and scouts? Woods is young and all, but his performance has been less than impressive. He's not the hitter that Manzardo is and I'm not sold on him either. There certainly isn't a 40+ gap between them. I'm pretty sure Cleveland's FO will look at what they have in Josh Naylor and Kyle Manzardo and laugh at this idea. We haven't even mentioned the idea of sending Rocchio, another top 100 prospect to Washington for a 1B prospect that isn't as good as what they already have and a SP prospect pitching well in high A ball. Good grief! I'll take it a bit further. Wood is not nearly the prospect that DeLauter is and the numbers are bearing that out.
What evaluators are seeing is a 20 year old with a .750+ OPS in Double A. That is incredibly impressive. What evaluators are seeing is a faster version of 2017-2019. Wood isnt a 1B prospect. He's a very good defender at all thre outfield positions, and it could be argued that he is the best defender of the Nats three major OF prospects. He's never played first base, so I dont know why he is listed as a first baseman here. In Cleveland, he probably slots to RF. If Cleveland laughs, it explains why they've had the outcomes they have the last few years.
The last few years? They lost to the Yankees in game 5 of the divisional series after going 92-70 last season and I think you better take a look at the teams with the best record over the last 5+ yrs. They laugh at this deal and the value difference between Wood and Manzardo is not that great. On top of that, what is actually more realistic is swapping the values here assigned to Williams and Wood. It's utterly laughable to think that Wood is that much more valuable than either Williams or Manzardo. No GM makes this deal. Not a single one. It's blatantly ridiculous. How about a 21 yr old hitting prospect that has better bat to ball skills, a more mature approach and an OPS of 1.045 in A+ and AA ball? That's Manzardo. Better yet, how about a 22 yr old already showing well in MLB? Go look at Rocchio's OPS as a 20 yr old. He's also a GG caliber SS and 2B.
