Ha! This is fun. Just as a PSA - Trout's calculated surplus value is actually way, waaaay above $82.4M. It was so high that no team would ever be able to pay it. His contract extension taught us that there is a ceiling for how much teams are willing to pay per win - by most $/WAR calculations, he should have received double or triple what he is making per year. But that just isn't realistic in today's market, so we've adjusted his surplus value down accordingly.
