The Marlins move a high risk/reward SP for 2 high risk/reward LH bats, and a decent pitching prospect. The Rays have more OF than SP, so I think they'd gladly make this deal. SP are expensive on the FA market, but a short side platoon with Raley in left should be available for cheap (Pham?). The Mariners get their offensive stud they've needed, and get him without adding much salary or subtracting much from the MLB roster.

I can see a trade like this. I can also see the Rays wanting Cabrera plus others from Miami. As for Rogers, his main problem is obviously health. Add him to the Rays mix of Eflin and Civale and the Rays rotation will be strong on paper and at HIGH risk of going down with every pitch thrown. That's basically 3 SP who struggle to pitch 100 IP every year. Given Rogers' upside, the risk might be worth it, but it's still a risky bet. Cabrera doesn't exactly solve the injury problem, but at least he's a lot cheaper. Anyway, I'd love to see the Rays turn Aroz into 2 strong rotation pieces, and this trade accomplishes that. I'd probably do it if I were the Rays.

The Rays seem to seek out injury plagued pitchers, so I think Rogers is right up their alley.
