2The Padres are trying to move Scott Barlow, who would be valuable as a high-leverage reliever for Boston, especially given Kenley Jansen's challenges pitching on consecutive days. The Padres would get Rodriguez-Cruz, a potential back-end starter still a couple of years away, and Hamilton, a pinch-runner good-glove shortstop who had trouble with his bat in the jump to MLB. Qin is a high-risk pure development project, but he's coachable, important to Breslow's expected program.
Obviously, Barlow is gone now.
