6These two teams seem close to a deal involving Cease. This seems to be a fair package that fits Chicago’s needs.
TBH, I think that the Dodgers SHOULD NOT go after him. He had an awful year in 2023 and is overrated IMO.
The White Sox just traded for C Edgar Quero so I don’t think C Cartaya with almost half the value is a good fit
I think Quero is 20 and a few, at least a couple years from MLB. Cartaya close to ready in 2024. ChiSox are trying to be competitive asap while restructuring roster and culture.
Quero & Cartaya were both in AA last year, both got around 360 AB’s, Quero was much better then Cartaya who really struggled.
Acquisition of Cartaya followed by a "flip" of either Cartaya or Quero, whoever the CWSox like the least to a Florida team or another catcher needy team could net them a player that improves / shortens the time needed for the CWSox to become relevant in the weak AL Central.. IOW.. an even better return.. Edit: Immediate gratification isn't always the only path
