It's rumored that the White Sox are pushing hard on a Dylan Cease trade, and that RF is a position they want. This trade gives the White Sox a huge upgrade in both RF and LF, plus Carlos Beltran's nephew, who's more of a 3B/SS-type than a 3B. The Red Sox get two years of a good starting pitcher and a reunion with Benintendi, who won a Gold Glove in 2021 and was selected as an All Star in 2022 before his off year in 2023.

There is no way the White Sox would use Cease just to offload the Benintendi deal lol.

Verdugo and Yoshida are good outfielders. Lugo was a second-round pick, and, again, he's tied to Carlos Beltran. The names are there to make it look good to casual fans. Serious fans read this site, and they'd know it was a fair deal. Sure, the White Sox could try for a top-tier prospect, but 38th-ranked prospect per Fangraphs Coby Mayo is a close fit by BTV rankings, and he blends awesome power potential with an odd swing and an inability to field: he had 29 HR and 23 E this year in AA/AAA. The Orioles could really use Cease, but I don't think that they'd give up Mayo, despite his flaws. Other teams would probably react the same way. Good prospects are almost untouchable. So, while I agree Cease and Benintendi for zero wouldn't happen, I think that this trade might, and that getting a star prospect is unlikely.
