10Not a good return for TB, the one position they have covered for the next decade is 3B so they wouldn't want Coller.
I don't think Cleveland would agree to this one...
Cleveland is beyond this because this is a move a team that is either rebuilding or has a log jammed roster makes. Cleveland is neither. Right now it looks like Curry is a need and dealing him for a pick and an 18 yr old is absolutely pointless for the reasons I already mentioned.
hmmm.. didn't think this one through very well either... The Comp A pick has a history of some pretty good guys being selected.. In addition to one of the strongest catching prospects in the lower minor leagues, the addition of a draft pick that can result in: 1. Connor Norby 2. Andrew Abbott 3. Blade Tidwell 4. Dalton Rushing 5. Justin Campbell 6. Miles Naylor ALL selected with a Comp A pick.. and all within the last two years.. just about when the Guardians will be truly into their contention window.. Thoughts?
hmmmm....gave it plenty of thought. Is Curry part of the current SP depth? You're the one talking about how McKenzie is an injury risk so I'd assume that you had the mental wherewithal to understand that Curry could very well be needed. Instead, you have the grand idea to trade him for a pick that is at least 3 yrs away if they make it at all and a 17 yr old DH. My thoughts are the same as they were before your complementary reply which stated that Cleveland doesn't currently have the SP depth to make a trade like this and they're not in a rebuild so the low level prospects don't seem to fit for a team closing in on contention. It makes a helluva lot more sense to use Curry to make a gain on the ML roster because this deal only subtracts from it in an area of questionable depth.
Rays aren't trading a CBA for a CBB. There's a big difference in value between those picks.
If the Rays take into consideration the rising prospect value of Collier.. the deal offsets the difference between a Comp A and Comp B pick (about 2.0 - 2.2 MM being the offset, on average).. It could take another prospect from the Guardians to make the deal happen.. but.. and this is a deal break.. no switch of the Competitive Balance picks.. or a better prospect and the Guardians get both a Comp A and their own Comp B.. then no deal.. In short.. the Comp A pick for the Guardians in THIS draft is the Guardians' target/headliner..
The difference in value between picks is like $5MM or more if my memory from last year is correct. In any event, Collier ain't swinging a Glasnow trade. The Rays want pitching. The last thing they want is another 3B, particularly a teenager, and moving Collier to RF actually decreases his value to the Rays given his bat is just a plus hit tool with average power.
Reds not trading CAM nor a COMP CBB, they really value the picks. Not sure this works for any of the teams
Cam Collier's ultimate destination on the field won't be 3B.. That's where he's at now.. but, even the Reds realize his destination is where his arm plays best.. Right Field.. The Rays have a guy entering his first arbitration years who will begin to be expensive.. prohibitively so, in about two or three years.. just about when the Rays usually are looking for a new home for those kinds of players so their new, low cost guys will have a place.. There is no argument about Collier's bat.. Caminero's as well..
