1Wesneski has yet to put it together, but he's ready to start in 2024 and is a highly ranked prospect (FV 50). He has high velocity and 6 years of control, making league minimum. Projections have him eating 90 innings in 2024 with a 4.4 era and a +.7 WAR. There is also a lot of possible upside if he can add some additional movement to his changeup. Cubs need to add a 5th starter to their rotation, and they're willing to eat Glasnow's 25M and have acceptable back-up options if injuries occur. They could also explore a 6th man rotation for the end of the regular season, to ensure Glasnow stay's in tip-top shape for the 24 playoffs.
