5Hey Grover (or anybody else), Rule 5 draft is today, got your eye on any player in the draft? Any guess as to who gets selected #1?
Did you know that if a player gets selected in the rule 5 draft for a 2nd year in a row and if the selecting team decides not to carry him on the active roster that player does not get returned to the original team but instead becomes a free agent? Could happen to Noah Song if he got selected again. He got selected last year by the Phillies, then returned to the Red Sox. He’s eligible for the draft again today.
Rafael Lantigua (UTL/Toronto) and Justin Slater (RHP/Texas). I also think there's a not small chance they have a deal in place to trade whomever they pick to flip for a prospect.
Justin Slaten drafted by the Mets then traded to Boston. Red Sox lost SP Drohan and RP Ryan Fernandez. Drohan I expected to be drafted, Fernandez I thought was a bit of a long shot because of his injury history.
Fernandez has the stuff that teams are willing to gamble on.
