2This isn't a trade I'd like to see happen. It's a good idea though, and I appreciate it. I like the Braves, I would like to see them roster a true UTIL guy and I also like Peterson well enough. Over the past several seasons the Braves position players have been the very the definition of going to the post every day and therefore I'm not as into having Jace Peterson as I might otherwise be. As for Ozuna, I've never been much of a fan of his. However, if he puts up numbers in 2024 that's midways between his stinky 2022 and his "wow" 2023, then it's fine because who's on their current roster that's going to be at least an above league-average hitter? I'm into the idea that the Braves would pare down their salary with this trade. I feel like the Diamondbacks could use a DH. Ozuna was really good last year and he might be able to do it again. I just don't see them taking the losing side of a trade in order to find out firsthand.
You're right for the fact that it's not a great trade for the Braves. It would be considered only a move if they were looking to move him for payroll and/or his antics off the field. It would give the Braves a pitcher in Martin that would have some years of control and could possibly compete for a rotation spot or long man in the pen. Peterson would be an interesting role player on the bench, even at 34. For the DBacks, it's absolutely what they would be looking for in a DH, if they're willing to take on payroll like they claim. Thanks for the input!
