4Forst Dummy Tax in affect at a max value of 5.7 BTV... Now, the A's have said they have no intention of trading Blackburn ahead of ST but I believe the Comp A pick could change their mind. The Orioles were willing to leave Haskin exposed during the Rule 5 draft so there's at least some acceptance to the idea of him not being part of the organization. Would Baltimore trade a draft pick to add a non-TOR arm to the rotation?
Gotta think Baltimore wants better than Blackburn depth is important but that is NOT a sexy move
I agree, trading for Blackburn would not be sexy. But the more sexy options will also be more expensive, either in FA dollars or prospect capital, and the Orioles have been hesitant to shop at those higher prices.
I think Baltimore keeps the pick but I’d do it, you need pitching depth if you’re going to compete for a title.
