4It would be difficult for Seattle to trade their (first) 2023 1st round pick but Arozarena might be tempting enough to pull the trigger. I think Tyler Soderstrom can stay behind the dish and Tampa seems perpetually short of backstop options. The A's load up on more young talent.
Seriously Grover? Rays are willing to play no bat catchers who excel behind the plate, but Soderstrom is struggling to stay behind the plate and his bat hasn’t developed at all. There’s no chance the Rays have him on their wish list at this price point.
If I thought Seattle was willing to part with Miller or Woo I'd have gone in that direction. I know the Ray's would go No Bat/Excellent Glove but I'm not sure they have that. Pinto caught 31 games in the majors last year, Brantley has caught 8 big league games this decade. Alex Jackson has caught around 50 games in the Show since he made his debut. BA's 2024 report gives Soderstrom a shot at being an average backstop. The A's absolutely rushed him but he's heading into his Age-22 season, so it's not like the clock has struck midnight on his development.
Totally agree with 2 of your points - (1) A's rushed Soder for some reason. (2) Rays seem to be totally screwed on the C position in 2024.
