3Trying to trade a bad contract for a bad contract
This is clearly better for the Angels. Rendon literally said on the JackVita show that he wanted less MLB games and probably hates baseball. At least Stanton hits ~20 HRs each season. The Yankees would not do this, and in fact, they would be having to add about 12 million or so to their payroll which is something they cannot afford to do.
I hate Rendon (personality and ability)and while this does have merits I agree that Stanton is slightly the better value. AAV of 22 million vs. 35 million (Rendon). Rendon has one less year too, but 13 million AAV difference is a lot. Stanton has the no trade clause, but maybe decides on going back home to socal. Angels fans-would you consider taking on Lemahieu as well? Combined 37 million AAV. We can trough in a prospect like Pereira. I don’t know. Just spit balling.
