I'm forcing the A's to spend more of their revenue sharing check in 2024 and these two deals ups their payroll by an $20.3 million. They also pick up a quality SP prospect and a 1st round pick. The trades are also 40 man neutral for all parties.

Well thought out trade grover. My only question is how you envision Cleveland using Muller? As of now they're pretty deep in SP with Bieber, McKenzie, Bibee, Williams, Allen, Lively, Cantillo, Curry, Gaddis and Barria. I don't know if Muller has the "stuff" to jump ahead of someone like Cantillo. I have my doubt anyway.

I'll be brutally honest, I needed a warm body and picked the guy on the 40 man roster that didn't play for Cleveland last year (Michael Kelly). I don't know if the Guardians' Lab can restore Muller's value. He might end up eating junk innings during ST and end up on the waiver wire. That's why I made the deal lean so heavily value-wise in favor or the non-Oakland teams; they come out ahead even if they player they get back doesn't pan out.

That comp pick would have them in the hole though. IMO of course.

There is no way that Cleveland trades their comp A pick to get rid of Straw. After drawing the first overall pick, look for Cleveland to try to trade for another Comp pick. To stay successful, Cleveland has to build through the draft. They have a unique opportunity this year with the number one pick. They will not subtract from that opportunity.

That's a valid position on the draft pick. Problem is, there isn't anyone else I'm interested in at that price point.

Wait, the Giants get a 0-1 win player for a blue-chip prospect and a bounce-back candidate? Um, why?

Conforto has produced less than 2 fWAR the last two seasons he's played, so the drop off from him to Brown should be minimal. And it frees up $15 MM that they can spend elsewhere.
