This trade won't help the Twins win now or later. Nope.

This trade addresses 2 of the Twin's biggest weaknesses that need to be done now if the Twins ever want to advance beyond the 1st game of the postseason. Yes, this trade cuts to the muscle but if we want to advance in the postseason beyond the 1st game we need another postseason SP & for future wins after Vazquez leaves we need a top MLB catching prospect to be mentored by Vazquez now. It's a similar trade as Arraez/ Lopez which gave us our 1st postseason SP. If we had no guts & foresight to do this trade our winless postseason games would be still growing.
