Guardians get a solid right-handed bat they can plug into the DH/1B spot in the lineup, and play 3B on J-Ram off days. Giants get a "Jakob Junis" replacement (who I think is a bit undervalued on BBTV due to the 4 years of control).

I think Cleveland would have to put in another player... Problem is JD Davis doesn't 100% have a spot since 1B, 3B, DH and LF are taken, so where does he get ABs?

temporary account

Cleveland has Josh Naylor, top 100 prospect Kyle Manzardo, and rule 5 pick up Deyvison De La Santos for DH/1B. De La Santos can also play 3B. Ramirez will already DH on his "off" days. Where are the at bats for Davis? They are not going to block Manzardo for 2024. I don't see Cleveland trading for a rental that does not have a clear path for at bats. Davis has not started a game in the outfield since 2020 and only 7 outfield starts that year so he likely does not help there either.

Manzardo has struggled heavily vs LHP in the minors (.161 average / .599 OPS in 2023) and I don't see De La Santos sticking with the Guardians since his minor league numbers aren't impressive either. J.D. would mainly be Manzardo's platoon partner/bench bat.

BigBat

That's a terribly small sample not to mention development stats gr3ulich. TA is right and there isn't a place to play JD. It's too bad that he can't play RF because his bat kinda fits, but I'd rather just give those AB to Rodriguez who has a ton of power, gets on base and hits for a good average. He has a big arm for RF too so I don't see adding JD to Cleveland's roster as beneficial. I'm willing to deal Morgan so is there a better deal to be had that's fair for both teams?

Maybe a similar deal with Heliot Ramos or Slater would make sense for both teams. Both are athletic corner outfield-type guys. Slater is older but has proven that his floor is a valuable platoon RF, Ramos has good AAA stats but has only had a handful of MLB ABs. I'm mostly looking for a trade partner for JD since it seems inevitable that the Giants will sign Matt Chapman soon lol.

Let's look at this idea then... Cleveland wouldn't likely go with Austin Slater... Tyler Freeman likely could easily put up those numbers in the OF everyday and he is playing in the OF this spring... So he would be out... Ramos, is definitely someone they would think about, but I doubt they can afford to move another pitcher for another hitter right now. Honestly if Cleveland didn't make the Morris for Florial deal, trading for Ramos would have made some sense. I don't see them moving Morgan right now mostly because their next group of arms are a 25 MLB ETA... Ramos doesn't hit well enough to merit getting him over Johnathan Rodriguez, Noel, etc who are already on the roster. Also De Los Santos got selected because of how well he performed after changing his swing mid season, plus he said he's more than willing to play OF to make the roster. Your pick of need of that type of bat for Cleveland was correct, They would rather go with DDLS or Fry to take those LH pitching ABs if Manzardo struggles against lefties. Fry actually I believe is the last guy on the bench since he played 5 positions (C, 1B, 3B, LF, RF) and he did 5 innings as a pitcher... JD Davis would have been a target for Cleveland IF they didn't trade Civale for Manzardo... (Ps. IF they didn't make that trade, I wouldn't have hesitated to trade Morgan for JD...)
