The Pads can't afford Jansen's 16 mil salary and 20 mil to the Brewers. Milwaukee probably doesn't want JC's bad contract. Snelling is at least 1 year away so wouldn't the Red Sox rather Irirate and/or Mazur and/or Camerana and/or Jayvien Sandridge and/or Tommy Nance and/or Kevin Kopps and/or Reiss Knehr and/or Omar Cruz and/or Yovanny Cruz and/or Drew Carlton who are all ready for MLB, unlike Snelling and Lesko.

Incorrect on not being able to afford Jansen. They are still well under the CBT, and they can payout the $20M for Cronenworth over time. If the Brewers trade Frelick, that would open up a spot in the OF, so Yelich can go back out there, with Hoskins moving to DH, and Cronenworth playing 1B while Hoskins DHs more. If the Padres are paying some of Cronenworth's to get it out from underwater, then it's not a bad contract for them at that point. For the Red Sox, someone the caliber of Snelling would be a huge get for them and they lack pitching at the top of their farm, plus they have their eyes on the future along with still trying to compete now. You could maybe throw in an MLB ready piece with Snelling that can help them now.

Milwaukee doesn't want Cronenworth or his contract, especially for his production over the last two years. They would rather look at their young guys. They don't want Yorke because they, like the Red Sox, don't know what to do with him. They certainly don't want Zavala, a teenage OF.

Always love these comments when people actually think they know what FOs want. We really need to stop with these dismissive comments as it’s not very productive. Cronenworth is exactly the type of player/contract they like. Guys that are versatile and cheap. Yorke is a good bat for any system. I agree they wouldn’t want Zavala if he were the focal point of the trade. He’s a good prospect far away that could come up later on. The Brewers have made trades before where they get MLB ready talent as well as prospects.

Rhyde, I couldn't disagree more. You couldn't be more wrong about Cronenworth for Milwaukee. He has the kind of contract the Brewers are trying to avoid. Maybe $80M isn't much to a Padres fan, but it's far to much for the Brewers to spend on a guy like Cronenworth. They already have Turang, Ortiz, Monasterio, Miller, Black, and others coming up with versatility. If Yorke was such a good bat why would the Red Sox be peddling him? Reason, he's a terrible glove and the only place he can play is 2B, and not well. The Brewers put a premium on defense. Milwaukee is loaded with outfielders, both in the majors and coming up. They have one of the better minor league systems and the strength of the system is outfielders. To bring in yet another outfielder just doesn't make sense when they can use depth at other positions.
