Rays aren't trading Aroz this year, and I can't see the Padres trading 3 pitching prospects, including two of their best prospects.

I still think some kind of trade is coming before spring training is up like with Meadows, you keep hearing the term uncomfortable from the FO when referring to the payroll so I don't picture them going all year over $100M unless they're planning to drop down to like $60M next year to make up the difference. I think SD would be more comfortable with moving pitchers cause they have so many and are so thin on positional prospects in their system, all their pitching prospects are at AA too, Lesko and Mazur is only 2 of their top 5 pitching prospects and their looking at possible Profar in LF and Azocar in CF while trying to compete with the Dodgers so Arozarena makes a lot of sense for them. They have 4 young catchers but obviously Salas is untouchable and I like Gonzalas over the other 2 so that wouldn't be a big loss and Reynolds is only a reliever so I think SD would be dealing from a point of depth for their system while Lesko and Mazur would both be in the back half of the top 10 for TB.

Of the 3 biggest position player salaries, I think we are more likely to see Diaz traded first, then B.Lowe and then Aroz. I just can’t see them moving Aroz at this point after all the marketing muscle they’ve put behind him to start the year. But I agree that the FO and Ownership statements suggest they would like to reduce payroll. How they go about doing that I couldn’t say.

I think if they would have gotten an offer close to what TB was looking for in a B Lowe trade they would have moved him butI'm sure most times are scared away by all the injuries and back concerns. Diaz seems like the most obvious choice but I just don't get the feeling they're trying to move him, there wasn't even a peep about him being on the market and he seems like the poster boy for what the Rays FO think a player is, but his trade return should be the highest of just about everyone on the roster too, even with all the fan promotions I wouldn't be surprised if Arozarena or anybody is moved, they've proved before that they are only bottom line driven and don't care if fans are attached to the player.
