3Cleveland cut Harold Ramirez... They won't trade for him back...
Cleveland needs offense, I'm sure of they thought he would be a good contributor they wouldn't care if they cut him in the past.
And you forget Cleveland does like defense as well, which HRam is not known for and the numbers say he is atrocious in the OF... His bat is fine, but he doesn't walk much and he doesn't hit for power. Cleveland has a bunch of guys who can do exactly the same thing in their system plus plays a better defense. Cleveland doesn't need contact hitting, they need power hitting... Cleveland had an atrocious BABIP to start the season, plus they barely SO, but they didn't walk much and didn't SO much. They finished the season about average in BA, but towards the bottom in OBP and SLG, but were near the top in 2Bs while at the bottom in HRs... HRam doesn't give them anything right now since he doesn't take walks and doesn't hit for power. They would rather try one of the internal candidates such as Rodriguez or Noel who can hit the ball a mile, to get a roster spot. Plus Freeman can put up the same numbers as HRam, but is a plus 2B who can play SS, 3B and doesn't play bad in CF either. They won't trade Jackson Humphries, who they went well over slot to get him, that's for sure. That's another issue with this deal, who the Rays are targeting. Cleveland has him valued internally much higher than BTV/fangraphs does.
