10Giants send JD Davis plus 3 MLB-ready arms in Black (SFG #9), Rodriguez (SFG #27), and Miller (SFG #29) to the Guardians for 2 proven MLB arms in Shane Bieber and Eli Morgan. Black and Miller would both replace Bieber and Morgan on Cleveland's opening-day roster and Rodriguez could be up in 2024 as well if he shows out in AAA.
Miller has no control over his pitches so he would not be a target of the Guardians. MLB Pipeline grades him with a 30 control. Where does Cleveland play JD Davis? They have Jose Ramirez at 3B, Josh Naylor at 1B/DH, and a top prospect in Kyle Manzardo acquired from Tampa last year at the deadline also at 1B/DH. They are not going to block him.
Since JD Davis is a horrible OF and 1B/3B is covered, this is definitely a no...
Ps... JD Davis actually could be more of an option for Cleveland than I originally thought IF they don't feel Manzardo makes the roster, but they would only be willing to trade like Tanner Burns for him, not Bieber...
They are not going to block Manzardo for the entirety of the 24 season. Davis is not a fit.
I can agree with that idea, but if Manzardo doesn't go North with the team and Cleveland can get him for someone that won't make their roster pitching wise that is Rule 5 eligible, I feel like they have to look at making the deal. I think the Giants would get more than what Cleveland would offer though, but IF Manzardo isn't on the roster, getting a stop gap that's a right handed hitter, may not be a bad idea...
I don't think we should be looking at stop gaps. Either get these kids reps or make trades that are geared toward making this team a contender for the next few years.
I see De Los Santos getting sent back to Arizona.
But if he does, it doesn't mean JD Davis actually has a spot on the roster... They likely will extend Naylor and they gave up a lot to get Manzardo... JD Davis just isn't a guy they will move Bieber for...
I can see that too, but I think a minor trade is more plausible. Either way Davis is not a fit and neither are Rodriguez and Miller.
