4This only makes ANY sense for the Braves if Arcia is going to miss significant time after getting hit on the hand/wrist. Otherwise, I don't see the need.
ItchyBob...the time to fix the roof is when the sun is shining. Respectfully
I don't disagree with that sentiment, but I'm just saying that the Braves brass knows how severe the injury is. If it's significant, I can see Mateo being a potential target. There aren't many options to consider based on availability and tradeable assets. If Arcia isn't going to miss significant time, I see them rolling with their internal "options", paltry as they are. With a lineup full of All-Stars, the bar is pretty low for what they need at SS.
Is this still a topic? I didn't think this was a good one for the Braves. Arcia's been in Spring Training games. The ball hit him on his hand when he was batting and he seems ok. If there's a plug to fill at SS, Jorge Mateo's not my guy. He's got glove, but because the Braves are a "built to win" and a high payroll team I'm not into trading for a player who's a potential weak spot. Mateo's that for me. He's a weaker batter with just 1 really good season on defense.
