The biggest injury news of the week was that Noah Song will undergo Tommy John surgery. It is a tough blow for Song, who hoped 2024 would be his first fully healthy minor league season. Chris Murphy is expected to require season-ending surgery to repair a torn UCL in his pitching elbow. Boston also placed Bryan Mata (right hamstring strain) on the 15-day injured list. Injuries continue to plague Mata, who has just over 100 innings pitched since the end of the 2019 season.
