6@Grover, I definitely need your opinion, with Bieber going down, Cleveland needs another SP... What would it take to get Blackburn plus possibly Naylor?
Forget Naylor. The A's have no reason to include him in a deal with Blackburn. I realize the numbers for Martinez/Blackburn tilt in the A's favor but if Cleveland is looking for an immediate addition to their rotation then the skew is justified. Would the A's be interested in Martinez? They could, if they believe he can stay on the left side of the infield. BA thinks he can, Fangraphs raised some doubt; I'm not sure how much difference the A's see between him and Darell Harnaiz.
Fair enough... Who do you think As would want from Cleveland for Blackburn?
My first thought is... pick #36 looks awfully good. I believe that would get Oakland's attention more than anything else. Castillo and Clemmey fit the pitching profile the A's have pursued recently. Angel Genao does a lot of things the A's like but they've really shied away from switch hitters, so he might be off their board entirely.
Gotcha, yeah I don't believe any of those would work for Cleveland, not for someone with his age, injury history and team control... With them having #1 they cannot afford to trade the 36 pick.. They are gonna go overslot with 36 or their first 2nd round pick... I'd say two college bats in their first 5 picks then a run of college arms then go over slot later for a couple high schoolers... With Espino and Campbell going down, they gotta get those college arms... hmmm.... Hard to find a solid trade between two teams with opposite philosophies in drafting and development...
A familiar refrain between these teams.
