2Braves get an ace. Mariners gets prospects along with saving around $16m this year. Ian Anderson will take Castillo's spot in the rotation.

What are your thoughts about the implications of this trade putting the Atlanta team into the next luxury tax bracket? Also, what are your thoughts about Castillo waiving his "no trade" clause? At the 2023 trade deadline, Fangraphs.com had Castillo as a top30-ish for "least likely to be traded". Their current projection on the 2024 playoffs has the M's just missing it. And they did that last year, for the 22nd time in 23 seasons. Don't you think that they'd be more likely to end that streak with Castillo? Isn't that their focus? What's motivating the Seattle team to now address payroll concerns? Didn't that get done in the offseason? Is it a window of opportunity to get these prospect pitchers at a price that will never be lower? I don't like the timing of this trade idea. How are we seeing this so differently? I'm not so sure that Ian Anderson's ready to take any rotation spot, Seattle, Atlanta, or otherwise. Maybe in a couple of months. What about Ian Anderson are you excited about? With his injury history and contract situation, he's approaching the endgame with the Braves, a la Michael Soroka. For me, this trade proposal has some holes in its logic.
