2Cubs need some help in the bullpen, so this trade aims to fill that hole with a righty (Meyer) and lefty (Scott) that can handle high leverage situations. The Cubs surrender top-100 prospect C/1B Moises Ballesteros (a club favorite that is a hitting machine), SP/RP Hayden Wesneski (former top-100 prospect), and big league-ish 3B/1B Patrick Wisdom (who is smoking the ball in Iowa with 223 wRC+). The Marlins claimed they have too much starting pitching after they recently sent Meyer to AAA. I'm sure the Cubs would be happy to play Meyer in the pen this year and if he stays healthy, switch him to the starting rotation next year. It's hard to believe a 4-14 team has too much starting pitching, however, the Cubs would gladly provide at least a top-100 prospect to land Meyer. Meyer could be their closer of the future if he can't handle the load of a starter. There's an opportunity here, Jed. Get on it!
Maybe Ballesteros and Wisdom for Meyer. Keep HW.
