Cleveland isn't trading Kwan...

temporary account

This robs Peter to pay Paul. One step forward, two steps back.

Outside of the coolness factor, not sure why either team would want this deal. Cleveland has a weak offense but can create pitching out of thin air. Miami has a slew of injured pitchers, a list that includes Garrett.

Cleveland has one of the best records in baseball and their starters aren't even going 6 innings a start... Kwan is the one of the main reason why they are winning...

King Kwan

NO...NO...AND NO

Cleveland has one weakness right now and it is SP believe it or not. Williams will be back soon so that should help, but McKenzie is one pitch away from TJS and it is unlikely that Carrasco can maintain his level of performance. What Cleveland does have is too many OF options and not enough AB to spread evenly. Cleveland's offense is immensely improved from last season and will likely continue improving as the youngest roster in MLB continues to mature. Kwan is arguably the best leadoff hitter in the league, but acquiring someone like Garrett is an absolute game changer. Yes, there would be some regression from Kwan to whoever replaces him, but I believe that would be more than covered by Garrett's acquisition. It doesn't really matter because the Marlin's FO isn't making this deal. They are essentially in the same boat as Cleveland was last year. They don't slug the ball and Kwan isn't going to help in that regard. The big jump in offense for Cleveland this year isn't due to Kwan. It's due to guys like Fry, Freeman, Arias and Naylor. Florial and Brennan are starting to come around too and they'll be a big boost. All of Manzardo, Rodriguez and Pries are mashing the ball in Columbus. It will be interesting to see if Cleveland deals for any SP, but I don't expect this deal to every materialize.
