The Cubs are clearly ok with moving Cooper, but what is the advantage of Soto and Stubbs over Gomes and Leiter? Soto' s closing experience with Detroit is OK, but I think the Cubs will go with Hector Neris there until he gives them a reason not to. Not sure why the Cubs would want Pache at all given their crowded outfield and that he requires a 40 man roster spot. Also not sure why the Phillies want Cooper at all.

Soto throws harder and has more closing experience than Leiter. Plus, he's a lefty. Leiter started great last year, like this year, but lost it. He's like Hendricks, a soft tosser, who depends on touch. I don't trust him. Neris is a 9 million dollar goof up on stupid Jed Hoyer's part. Fat, 35 year old with a nothing fastball and shaky control. Cooper is nice complement to Harper, who's out right now. I think on paternity leave. Gomes salary, with Leiter's salary, offsets Soto, so Cubs stay under luxury tax. I like Gomes, but Amaya deserves to start. Stubbs is a lefty hitter backup. If Cubs lose Pache through waivers, so be it. Maybe they can re-sign him to a minor league deal.
