KC has (or had, perhaps) a tendency to be keen on players with speed, and Ruiz is one of the fastest around. The A's are taking Waters to maintain their OF depth and to balance the 40 man rosters. I'm not sure how available Mozzicato or the Comp A pick will be but neither will help the 2024 Royals.

I think front offices value that pick higher, I wonder if, and am skeptical that Ruiz could/would be enough to acquire the pick. I could see a playoff team considering it for Ruiz more then a building team.
If the season ended today the Royals would be a WC team. And I tried to leave enough value gap to cover Comp pick inflation... As long as I could get one of Mozzicato/Comp pick I'd be willing to barter on the 3rd piece.
