3Let me look into my crystal ball. Cubs make trade. Luzardo passes physical with flying colors. First pitch in Cubs uni, he walks off mound. Needs TJ, Thoracic Outlet surgery and suffers torn labrum, plus has psychological issues from being traded so often. Misses rest of 24 and 25. Comes back second half of 26, throws a no-hitter, and walks during the offseason. No, gonna hold onto Morel.
I was curious if this would be popular. From the Cubs perspective, I'd pass. I don't really think starting pitching is an area of need for the Cubs.
What the Cubs need is a closer and a star, or two, position players. That’s what it takes to win pennants. Look at Braves. Acuna(hurt), Harris, Albies, Riley, etc. Stars. Phillies/Harper. Yanks/Judge. Dodgers/Betts, Ohtani, and Freeman. Cubs don’t have anyone remotely close. Maybe Shaw in a couple years.
