From Cleveland's point of view, this deal is kind of bad... Perkins would struggle to make the roster since he isn't an upgrade over who they have...

I think Perkins is a clear upgrade. He plays an Elite CF which freeman does not. He also is a switch hitter who runs better than Freeman and is hitting better than Freeman. I don't think Perkins nets a top 15 prospect from anyone but i think he certainly could get a top 30 prospect from a CF needy team.

Genao is a top 100 prospect... Plus Freeman is just learning CF so he is doing actually really well there and Perkins isnt a good enough hitter in general to merit trading that type of value for him... Perkins could be a 4th OF for Cleveland, but they wouldn't give up 17 value for him... Cleveland needs a true upgrade and Perkins isn't one...

Very fair. I don't believe Genao is a top 100 prospect though... I haven't seen anywhere with him that high. He's a 45 FV and the 11th ranked Guardians prospect on pipeline. As a Brewers fan all I did was look around at contenders who were struggling at the CF position and found the Guardians and Royals as fits for Perkins as we just don't have playing time for him with our OF that's loaded with talent. I was surprised at the value put on both Perkins and Genao by BTV but I posted it anyways. Regardless I think it's good discussion.

Im pretty sure he's listed in Baseball America as a top 100 prospect... #65 I think (I don't own a subscription though). MLB rankings haven't had their mid season update, so he's definitely not gonna stay at number 11 there... Hence why the value of Genao is so high on here since they use Baseball America for prospects... When it comes to Perkins, his bWAR plus team control made his value high but that's based off of his defensive metrics... Cleveland sent Straw to the minors because he wasn't hitting... Cleveland needs a hitting OF not a defensive OF... Now Cleveland would for sure take Perkins as a 4th OF since they love defense, but a 4th OF is really gonna have like 5 value to them not 17...
